There is magic in the feel of a paddle and the movement of a canoe, a magic compounded of distance, adventure, solitude and peace. The way of a canoe is the way of the wilderness and of a freedom almost forgotten, the open door to waterways of ages past and a way of life with profound and abiding satisfaction. – Sigurd Olson

Continuing Medical Education (CME) Adventure Learning Trip Sept. 7 - 12, 2010
Combine a Boundary Waters canoeing experience with a quality Continuing Medical Education conference. You will spend the week canoeing and camping in the scenic Boundary Waters and obtaining 15 hours of CME. Participants arrive at the lodge in Ely, Minnesota, on the first afternoon. The first night includes a welcome dinner and lodging. CME presentations and camping trip preparations will take place at the lodge throughout the first full day. Depending on speaker availability and group interest, the group may also spend the second night at the lodge (then spending the following three nights camping). Alternatively, the group may launch the canoe camping trip following the presentations on the first full day (then spending the following four nights camping). Either way, the group will return to the lodge on Saturday, for a hot shower and celebration dinner. CME talks not completed at the lodge will be done on the trail. The trip will wrap up after Sunday's breakfast. The CME portion of the trip will consist of 15 hours of Category 1 AMA and AAFP accredited CME provided by Corvidae Medical Expeditions. This trip offers practical CME that is designed to be useful in the daily practice of the practicing physician or health care professional. This is not a wilderness medicine course, but wilderness medicine topics relevant to the area we're traveling through are occasionally added. The topics are varied and chosen to be relevant to a variety of specialties. Please check back soon for more information on the curriculum. This trip includes your first and last night's stay in an Ely lodge, 15 hours of CME credit, a fully outfitted paddling and camping Boundary Waters adventure, and a seasoned canoe camping guide. It also includes all of your meals from the time you arrive until you depart. Families are welcome. Please contact us for more information regarding this CME opportunity.
